- Who built FieldWorks?
- Christopher Atoki. I’m a software developer based in South Jersey and I built FieldWorks myself.
- How long have you been building software?
- Over 10 years. I’ve worked with startups, mid-sized companies, and large organizations building dashboards, CRMs, portals, and internal tools.
- Why did you start FieldWorks?
- Honestly, I just wanted an easier way to book local services.
I was helping a landscaping company get online, then a housekeeper, then a massage therapist. As I talked to them, I kept hearing the same thing.
They were paying for leads that didn’t turn into jobs.
Some were spending hundreds every week just to compete.
That felt broken.
- What’s wrong with platforms like Thumbtack or HomeAdvisor?
- They charge businesses for leads whether or not the job happens.
That means pros take all the risk.
I don’t think that’s fair.
- How is FieldWorks different?
- Simple.
No lead fees.
No monthly fees.
No contracts.
You only pay when you actually get paid.
If you don’t make money, you don’t owe anything.
- Are you local?
- Yep. South Jersey. And I work directly with local landscapers, cleaners, photographers, and other service pros while building the platform.
- Is there a team?
- Just me right now. I design it, build it, and handle support personally.
- Can businesses talk to you directly?
- Always. If you message support, you’re talking to me.
- What’s your goal with FieldWorks?
- Give small businesses the same tools big companies have and modernize how local services are booked.
- Anything people might not expect?
- I’m a dad of six and I love tinkering with niche side projects like putting AI into glasses. I just like building useful things.
